Eduard Gamonal

My name’s Eduard Gamonal. I’m 23 and I live in Barcelona (Catalonia). I studied a Diploma in Computer Software at the Technical University of Catalonia – BarcelonaTech – FIB). I’m studying a Master in Information Technology at the same university, specialising in software engineering and information systems. My mother tongue is Catalan and I can also speak Spanish at native level, fluent English and basic French. I studied in Aberdeen, Scotland for a semester. I work at eyeOS a few hours a week. I’ve also been a  Mozilla localizer since 2007. I enjoy playing the electrical and acoustic and classical guitar.

Relevant skills

Languages Java,  C/C++, PHP5, SQL (MySQL, PosgreSQL, Oracle), XHTML, HTML, Javascript and CSS W3C compliant. I’ve developed an academic app for Android and I’m slightly familiar with JavaME.

I’m interested in software engineering and data bases, specially oriented to RIA. I’ve used UML, OCL and some design patterns.

I can write some plain Javascript although I’m more familiar with Qooxdoo. I can develop applications for eyeOS.

General knowledge of SVN, Wordpress, ccHost, Joomla, phpbb2 and easy adaptation to content management systems. I’ve developed two plug-ins for Wordpress, one of them is used in Mozilla.cat. I’m familiar with Javascript, Qooxdoo and EyeOS app development as well.

My favourite GNU/Linux flavour is Debian but I frequently use Fedora.

Work experience

March 2011 – eyeOS intern

I was in  MusicaLliure.cat ’s team  mainly as a developer and designer, sharing responsibility in administration and evangelism.

2005 — October 2009  developed tac822.net

10 years of Softcatala website. http://10anys.softcatala.org. HTML 4.1 strict and CC 2.1 valid. Coded using an own modular system I developed in 1st year of university.

January 2009 Masia La Serra (made with Wordpress. Details in catalan + screenshot). I also did some tasks on ccfundacions.cat with  Joomla (layout of some sections and some little ASP work)

I am a member of Mozilla Europe , contributing to L10N – ca (Catalan). I also am a Softcatala member. I used to submit Catalan localisations for aMSN.

My work has involved, sometimes, public speaking. For example, my university hired me to talk about uni life to about 400 freshers.

Interests

I used to spread the word of MusicaLliure.cat in some interviews at some nice radio stations of Catalonia, in an on-line TV ( Horitzo.TV ) programme. [old video -speaking from 0:25:00 on], in Centre d’Art Santa Mònica, and some other venues.

I enjoy playing the guitar and I sometimes upload stuff to Youtube. You might find as well some artwork I made long time ago, like Ubuntu in blue flames
